HIMALAYACALAMUS asper

10-20mm x 5-6m, -9°C   "TIBETAN PRINCESS”
A very attractive, small bamboo species with small leaves. The culms grow out at an angle from the centre of the clump giving it a unique fan shape. After 3 years here in Maleny it has only got to 2m high.  The culms are much longer but because of the drooping form the clump hieght is less. It is still quite rare in Australia and I am not sure how high it will grow in our various climates.  The clump is beautifully animated in wind and rain, it wobbles around like a big animal.
